There was a time when bold colors, patterns and floral prints were solely feminine! You could almost insist that guys who tried out colors of whatever shade outside black, grey, blue, brown or white were either in the entertainment industry, into fashion, the arts or those who supposedly had more ‘X’ than ‘Y’ chromosomes *shrugs shoulders*
Fashion has constantly evolved from generation to generation and the modern day “Generation Y” cohorts (Echo Boomers or Millenniums born between 1977-1994) with their incredible sophistication and world exposures have pushed the boundaries of fashion to exploring patterns, shades and symmetries beyond imagination.
The colored sock trend crept into the male fashion scene subtly at first but has surprisingly gained momentum by the day. The initial trend started out with single themed colors in really bright shades which most men wore solely for special social occasions such as weddings, red carpet appearances and ball room events. It suddenly became a bestman/groomsman trend and the only time most introverted males would try so bright a pop of color with their outfit.
Today, the trend has gone beyond the “bestman/groomsman trend” to a popular culture where it is worn for almost any occasion with almost any outfit paired with the most interesting kinds of footwear; corporate shoes in black or brown, laced shoes, ball room shoes, loafers, drivers, brogues and even sneakers.
From the outspoken male chauvinists, to the daring heartbreaker, to the conservative introvert and the social extrovert, more men seem to be open to this trend and are adorning interesting themes, color blocks, prints, patterns and symmetries of whatever shade…
There are still some really conservative traditional men out there who would not be caught dead in a colored sock. Do tell! Are you man enough to sport a pair of colored socks? What is the brightest color you can sport? And for the ladies, what shade would you color your man?

Inasmuch as this is a trend I gladly adopted albeit much later, creative combination of the colour shades is as important as the trend.
Uhm ….maybe I could color him yellow and blue!
